Each year MoldMaking Technology magazine to honors the mold manufacturers that best demonstrate overall efficiency, quality & commitment within their moldmaking operations, while raising the bar in terms of mold engineering, building & repair. This year´s SMALL SHOP HONORABLE MENTION went to J.S. Die & Mold, Inc. SMALL SHOP HONORABLE MENTION J.S. Die & Mold, Inc. (Sloma Holdings, Inc. dba) (Byron Center, MI) designs & builds plastic injection molds, 85 clamp tons to 2,000 clamp tons, & provides repair & engineering change services, program management tooling & automation for injection molded parts, & program management & sourcing offshore molds. They measure leadtime by job kick-off to first sample & final data to first sample. They are combating the offshore threat by setting up an alliance with Jungwoo USA, a Korean-based company with a sales office in South Carolina, to provide molds & dies from Korea & China. They are a certified service shop for Jungwoo for the Great Lakes region where they will be taking tooling bound for their customers & prepping & certifying them as well as engineering changes. They have also set up an alliance with Wes-Tech Automation to provide customers with a total solution for producing an injection molded part. Crunch The Numbers - Bob Sloma wants to work himself out of a job. He would like the J.S. team to be able to run the company without him.
